David Lok

Diploma in Photography

New England School of Photography, Boston, USA

Founder of Studio DL (since 1992)

Expertise in Industrial, Interior & Exterior, Lifestyle, Landscape, Commercial Photography

If you have spent some years in this part of the world, you would have come across a David Lok photograph in a magazine, billboard or gallery. One of the region’s influential commercial photographer, David has weaved his creative style across the retail advertising industry even before setting up Studio DL in 1992.

David is inspired by storytelling through conceptual and lifestyle imagery. There is almost no constraint to the combination of emotions he delivers; and as far as it goes, images can be shocking yet inspiring, or intriguing and uplifting. In telling the story, he doesn’t just capture moments; he captures ideas.

Following his curiosity, he is interested in things outside the realm of photography. David enjoys empowering different walks of life from the urban poor to indigenous people. As an activist, photography gives shape to his initiatives, while advocating and documenting social issues in Malaysia.
